Endurance Ride

2009 Ride Information

Before arriving at the venue please complete the enclosed vet sheet and on the day take it with you to the farrier check and the vetting.

 On arrival at the venue please co-operate with the parking stewards and be considerate of other users of the venue. Take your mastercard to the secretary along with your log book and membership cards for checking. Collect your number bib and read any instructions that may be on the noticeboard.

 Please allow at least 10 minutes to get checked by the farrier and try to stick to your vet times.

 Pleasure riders are required to trot up their horses without tack and bare legs with no oil or grease (the Horse that is).

 

The route will be marked with coloured paint corresponding to the colours on the map. There will also be red tape and signs at route divergences all marking will be on your left so if you see some on the right you are probably going the wrong way.

 Manners please be aware that there will be some novice horse and rider combinations on the course so make sure you ask permission to pass and do so at a safe speed and location. Any complaints will be dealt with by the TS.

 

Toilets, refreshments, first aid, photographer and trade stand will be on site on the day but not nesecceraliy in that order. All dogs must be kept on a lead and under control.

 There will be limited water at the venue so please endeavour to bring what you need.

 Water crossings there are water crossings on some of the routes so please be careful when crossing these.

 Vetgates will be back at the venue crew parking will be made available near to the vet gate. 

 Crewing

 Access to the forest is limited, crew points agreed by the Forestry Commission are:

 1.      Parking area on Bramshill Road opposite Warbrook Lane junction. Do not park in front of the gate, this is an access to a private residence in the forest. Crew on the grass the forest side of the gate.

2.      Car park next to St Neots School playing fields. Crew on the grass next to the car park (plenty of room) away from the road.

3.      New Mill Lane, accessed via Warbrook Lane. Please park on road between Rycroft & ford. Take care not to block road or driveways.

4.      Wheeler's Copse, access via Sandpit Lane in Farley Hill. Plenty of off road parking.

5.      Thatcher's Ford, SOUTH SIDE ONLY. Do not crew the north side of this ford as the road is subsiding. Limited parking space.

6.      Junction of Well House Lane & Ford Lane. Please park down Well House Lane, taking care not to block the road. Crew on track where the route re-enters the forest. More space than crew point 5.

7.      Plough Lane. Park & crew on quiet road, plenty of space.

8.      Gravel Pits entrance. Where Welsh Drive meets A327. Even if gate is open DO NOT enter forest. Park before gate then walk the 10 metres in. Do not block the gateway (people live here & will report us if we enter the forest). Used for paintball access.

 Please do not crew at other places, it is one of the restrictions of the permit issued for this ride. There must be no crewing or parking on the Bramshill road (except layby for crew point 1), Glaston Hill road, B3272 or A327. Yellow crew cards showing rider your rider number must be displayed in crew vehicles. Crewing with lorries is not permitted, only one crew vehicle per competitor please.
